Here's a series of photos I took of the progression of a piece I worked on today.  It's done in oil pastels and the subject is a park in Buffalo alongside an abandoned rail road, where I regularly walk my parents' dog, when I visit.

I got started on a sketch in pencil and before long, the cat with perfect cat timing, jumped on my lap for a scratch.  And here was my reaction:

After negotiating a peace treaty, I was on my way.  

And there's the final product in all it's pastely glory.
